Just a year ago, during christmas time, the weather was already preparing for the xmas season, the christmas tree was set up, the statue of baby jesus in the crib was ready and the light decorations were also all set up. Yet our home in the midst of all these christmas decorations which should have brought the spirit of love, peace and warmth still felt so cold, so empty, so dull.
A year before, our beautiful piksy, our little baby was roaming around and jumping with the tinsels and with the angels hanged on the leaves of the christmas tree. That year piksy wasn`t with us. The angels last summer have taken her away from us and still her presence was greatly missed. Each and every morning last November `08 we never stopped phoning here and there, checking websites and sending e-mails to adopt a small little kitten. However,to no avail. The replies we were having were that since christmas time was approaching they were finding it hard to entrust us a fragile kitten which we can abandon after the holidays. While we were appreciating the concerns however we were getting very frustrated and irritated especially when some owners were demanding hundreds of euros for a kitten! What a shame!!!! They preferred a kitten to remain inhumanely enclosed in a cage rather than to lower the price and allow this cat to live the life it deserves to live with a loving family. The 25th of December was quickly approaching and we were desperate that year during our christmas eve dinner we were not going to be enjoy the company of our baby kitten.
As they say every cloud has a silver lining and finally we were suggested our last chance, the Tomasina sanctuary. We went there with our hearts in our hands, anxiously hoping that this time we will manage to find a kitten to adopt, but to no avail. Although there were many cats however we were looking for a small kitten to teach this cat how to live in an apartment seeing as our home does not have a garden. Yet we finally managed to see the light at the end of the tunnel when we received a call from the tomasina sanctuary announcing that they have a small little kitten which was brought by two work men from Qormi where they found her abandoned roaming the streets alone and were afraid that she will get hit over by a car. Happily we ran to tomasina sanctuary to meet for the first time our new little adopted sister. When we saw her for the very first time so well cured by the tomasina staff, peacefully sleeping in her little basket.She was just four weeks old!Imagine! We grabbed her immediately and took her home with us, where till today she still lives. We don`t call her our cat, we call her out little baby sister. Our beautiful KITTY! Each and every morning when she comes on our beds to wake us up the day starts with the famous buzz word—HELLO KITTY! Attached you can find some photos of our little kitty! The immense joy, love the potential that these cats have to understand you and to cheer you up its immense. We still pray for all those cats that are ruthlessly abandoned and worse still that end up as victims of animal brutality!
A big heartfelt thanks goes to the tomasina crew. Thank you for bringing such joy to our homes. Thank you for taking care of the homeless, of those that are unfairly abandoned and left with no love.
